Canada is big – very big and the feeling of space you get all over this most beautiful of countries will inspire the most demanding traveller. Iconic scenery including beautiful mountains, lakes, rivers and even glaciers make it a favourite for those seeking more than just a holiday. Experiencing the famous Rocky Mountaineer train journey through the towering mountains is definitely a bucket list trip or you could do what we do and drive the route taking in Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff on your way to cosmopolitan Vancouver – our favourite Canadian city.  Expect to see bears, elk, mousse and even wolves if you’re lucky as this place is teeming with wildlife.

Once you’ve seen all this beautiful city has to offer, we’d recommend extending your stay spending time on Vancouver Island.  Here, as well as seeing Victoria, the colonial capital, you must drive over to Tofino – one of our favourite places and somewhere that one day, once our wanderlust has finally been satisfied, My Travel Guys may just settle down.

Over on the east, Montreal feels like you could almost be in Paris!  You could combine a trip here with stays in Quebec City and Toronto where, with a slight detour, you could pay a visit to another bucket list destination, thundering Niagara Falls…

The Northern Lights are more visible in Canada than anywhere else – the season lasts longer and as there’s remote towns such as Thunder Bay in Ontario, Churchill on Hudson Bay or areas in the Yukon where “light pollution” is minimal making it all the more likely that you’ll witness yet another bucket list item.
